  PG Diploma in Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management (Awarded by the Institute of Commercial Management, UK)

Course Outline

The goal of this course is to provide a solid background with practical application of important concepts applicable to entrepreneurial environment. In addition to creative aspects, key business areas of finance, accounting, marketing, and management will be addressed from an entrepreneurial perspective. The course relies on classroom discussion, participation, guest speakers, case analysis, the creation of a feasibility plan, and building a business plan to develop a comprehensive strategy for launching and managing a business. Students will need to draw upon their business education and experience, and apply it to the task of launching a new venture. Students are expected to interact with the business community, advisors, be able to work effectively in teams, and be active participants in classroom discussions and exercises.

This course will enable the learner to achieve the following skills and knowledge:

· To possess a well-grounded understanding of essential entrepreneurial business principles.
· To develop an understanding of important business issues as they relate to new ventures.
· To identify, appreciate, and assess the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of an entrepreneur.
· To study and observe entrepreneurial settings and entrepreneurial role models through exposure to actual business settings and experiences.
· To have an expanded awareness of the resources available for creating a business plan.
· To establish a level of confidence in creating a business plan as a tool to assess, create, and communicate a business concept.

  4. Marketing Management
  5. Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management
  6. Advanced Entrepreneurship
Entry Requirements

Students holding relevant recognized qualifications from other institutions or professional examining bodies may apply for exemptions on a subject-for-subject basis. The Institute operates an 'Open Access' policy in respect of many of its vocational programmes but prospective students should note that the following entrance qualifications are recommended for those wishing to undertake the ICM Diploma programme:

The minimum age for registration for this programme is 21. Students should have successfully completed one or more of the following:

  1. The ICM Graduate Diploma in Management Studies
  2. A relevant Honours degree level qualification in a related subject
  3. Any qualification equivalent to one of the above

Assessment
Student progress is monitored by continuous assessment. A variety of assessment methods will be used, for example, assignments, business style reports, case studies, logbooks, observations, oral presentations, personal audits, portfolios, role-play and projects. Students are graded at either Distinction, Merit, Pass or Fail

Length of Course
The program is designed to allow the student to complete it 7 months- i.e. 2 semesters (3 days a week) of classroom study. The student can complete the program at a pace decided between themselves and the student counselor. It is recommended to complete the program in a maximum of 15 months.

Certification
On successfully completing the program, students are awarded the PG Diploma in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management issued by the Institute of Commercial Management, UK . Incase the students fail to complete the entire diploma they can claim certificates for each individual module completed and passed from ICM at an extra charge.

Status of Qualification
Advanced vocational qualification which may provide exemption or entry to other post-graduate courses - subject to age, and possibly, relevant experience.

Fee
AED 18,800/- for the entire program inclusive of Registration, books, course materials, assessment, evaluations and the final Diploma.
